The wire behind your walls is the one part of an electrical installation you never want to replace. A few questions help you choose well.
1. What is the load?
Add up the appliances the circuit will feed. A higher load needs a larger conductor cross-section so the wire does not overheat.
2. Single core, multicore or armoured?
Single core flexible wires suit conduit wiring inside buildings. Multicore flexible cables suit appliances and equipment. Armoured cables suit buried or exposed runs that need mechanical protection.
3. Consider fire safety
Fire-safety wires are designed to limit flame spread and smoke, which matters in commercial and public buildings.
4. Buy genuine, from an authorised source
Cable is safety equipment. Buy from an authorised distributor and keep the invoice for warranty support.
